At the Church Scientific launch event, philosopher Elaine Storkey considered our leading question, “Could a Christian worldview contribute to science?” Elaine’s fast-moving lecture gave a historical sweep of thinking about how we get knowledge about the world. Moving from Augustine to Thomas Kuhn via Thomas Aquinas, René Descartes, David Hume and other thinkers, she uncovered the perennial human search for an Archimedean point – a universally reliable reference point on which our knowledge can be anchored.
